CIRCA Research Manager
In the 10 years since joining CIRCA, Alison has been involved in the strategic management of a vast array of research in cross-cultural settings. Alison’s considerable project management expertise has enabled CIRCA to deliver conceptually and logistically complex projects across a broad range of language groups, as well as urban and remote Indigenous communities across Australia. Alison’s ability to deliver strategic research insights comes from a solid understanding of traditional and innovative research methods and considerable experience in community consultation and engagement. Before moving to CIRCA, Alison worked for the Centre for Health Economics, Research and Evaluation on a range of projects focussed on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and welfare. She has also worked on a variety of community development projects in Australia and internationally where a deep understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues of cultural and linguistic diversity was imperative. Alison also has experience in product development and marketing strategy analysis.
Alison recently took a 12-month break from CIRCA to manage the Research to Practice program at the NSW Department of Community Services. This role involved encouraging the active use of research within the Department by developing and implementing a range of strategies to translate research findings into policy and practice, including the promotion of more productive interaction between researchers, policy makers and practitioners and the development of evidenced-based resources.
