Senior Project Officer

Gillian has extensive experience in Indigenous affairs. In particular Gillian has expertise in policy development and implementation as well as program analysis and strategic planning. Over the past 5 years she has worked in the NSW public sector developing whole of government policies to support the needs and aspirations of Aboriginal people in NSW. These have included developing and implementing the NSW Aboriginal Affairs Plan Two Ways Together, the NSW Aboriginal Languages Policy and more recently the NSW State Plan. Through these policy settings Gillian has developed considerable experience in community consultation and engagement and working in partnership with Indigenous peak bodies.

Gillian’s experience gained in working in Indigenous affairs has facilitated a greater understanding of Indigenous community and culture, a clear understanding of the importance of appropriate consultation and engagement and enhanced knowledge of Indigenous networks and representative structures.

From 2000-2003 Gillian was a research consultant with Cultural Perspectives, and was involved in the development and management of a range of Indigenous projects, many of which were logistically and conceptually complex projects within urban, rural and remote indigenous communities across Australia.
