As 2022 comes to an end, the teams at Cultural Perspectives and CIRCA have spent a wonderful few weeks celebrating and reflecting on the highlights of another successful year.

The Perspective this month features pieces from our staff wrapping up the year that has been, and what we’re looking forward to in 2023.

We are proud of the work and results we’ve achieved with our wonderful clients this year as the 2021 national census outcomes highlight that our work to engage Australia’s multicultural communities is more important than ever.

We will be back from 3 January well rested and ready to take on the year ahead.

In September, Cultural Perspectives participated in a presentation by Dr Laura Jobson, who leads the Culture, Trauma, and Mental Health Research Group at the Turner Institute. The presentation reflected on the ways that different cultures experience trauma and memory, which are important considerations for how we do our work.

Pino Migliorino appointed to National Suicide Prevention Office Board

We would like to congratulate our Managing Director and Founder, Pino Migliorino, for his recent appointment as Advisory Board Member at National Suicide Prevention Office.

We look forward to following along as Pino brings conversations to the forefront regarding CALD communities.

Lena Etuk was appointed to The Research Society’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee and designated as part of the Australian Multicultural Health Collaborative’s (AMHC) Research & Data Group

We would like to congratulate Anna Abourizk, CP Account Executive, for recently completing her Master’s at the University of Sydney.

Eman Elhelw joins Sweatshop Western Sydney Literacy Movement Collective as a writer

Eman Elhelw, CP Engagement Consultant, recently joined the Sweatshop Western Sydney Literacy Movement Collective, devoted to empowering culturally and linguistically diverse artists, as a Writer.

We congratulate Eman on this achievement and look forward to reading her published works soon!

New Cultural Perspectives Group Board Appointments

At the last Cultural Perspectives Group Board meeting, two very exciting Board Member Appointments were announced. The appointments of the CIRCA’s Director of Research, Lena Etuk, and Cultural Perspectives’ Director of Communications and Engagement, Sarah Migliorino. We are proud of our company board which represents a strong gender balance and strong staff involvement in the overall organisational governance and strategy setting.

Congratulations to both Lena and Sarah on this achievement – we are excited to see the company grow from strength to strength under your leadership.

Queensland Executive Multicultural Service Sector Network

We were honoured to have our Managing Director Pino Migliorino facilitate the Inaugural Queensland Executive Multicultural Service Sector Network in October. The Network brought together representatives from 32 multicultural service providers across Queensland, was chaired by the Ethnic Communities Council Queensland (ECCQ) and co-convened by Settlement Services International (SSI).

The purpose of the network is to provide a unified voice in advocacy and develop agreed sectorial positions on matters of most importance to multicultural Queensland.

We look forward to following along with this ground-breaking collaborative approach that centres client needs.
