Cultural Perspectives

FESTOFALL YOUNG CARERS FESTIVALS

Objective:
Get young carers from culturally and linguistically diverse and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to participate in a festival to “just be kids for a day”, and raise the profile of young carers from these communities.

Approach:
Cultural Perspectives was part of a consortium led by public relation firm Porter Novelli, which staged 11 large scale events across Australia.
To get young people from diverse backgrounds to take part, we mobilised our networks to drive a social media campaign, identified young carers and celebrities to act as media spokespeople, and conducted stakeholder outreach.

Results:
More than 4000 young carers attended events across Australia. Participation targets for culturally diverse and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities were exceeded by more than 50 per cent.
