Research

Issue:
The disability sector is undergoing immense structural change with the implementation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) across Australia, and the move away from block to individualised funding. In addition, disability support organisations are trying to understand person-centric approach to service provision. National Disability Services identified a need to conduct further research on the needs of people with disability from CALD backgrounds.

Solution:
DiverseWerks was commissioned by NDS to conduct research for the project which formed a part of the NDS' People, Culture and Communication Project, funded by NSW Family and Community Services (FaCS).

The project methodology was comprised of two core components:

  1. The initial development of an evidence base.
  2. A consultation phase with a range of stakeholders in the language services and disability sectors, and with people with disability from CALD backgrounds.

Results:
A final report was produced for NDS with a summary and analysis of issue which emerged from both the initial development and the consultation phase.
