Cultural Perspectives Group Managing Director Pino Migliorino Receives the National Ethnic Disability Alliance Medal 2017

Pino Migliorino AM, Managing Director of Cultural Perspectives Group, has been awarded the National Ethnic Disability Alliance (NEDA) Medal 2017 for his relentless work in supporting culturally and linguistically diverse people living with disability.

Mr. Migliorino has been a long-time supporter and collaborator of NEDA, working together with the NEDA team both within his professional work and during his time as President of the Federation of Ethnic Community Councils of Australia (FECCA). He is being recognised not just for his continued support of NEDA but also for the fact that his collaboration with NEDA that was instrumental in the formation of the National Disability Insurance Agency CaLD Disability Reference Group. This advisory group brings together key civil society stakeholders across Australia to advise the NEDA on issues and concerns relevant to the CaLD disability community.

“I’m honoured to receive the NEDA Medal this year.  In Australia, 1 in 4 people with disability is a person from non-English-speaking background (NESB). There needs to be relevant policy infrastructure to provide support for this significant but very often ignored group”, said Mr. Migliorino.

In celebration of the International Day of People with Disability, the NEDA Medal is a prestigious award that recognising those who actively work to break down barriers and stereotypes people with disability face everyday including disability, language, culture, and ethnicity.
