Account Director (PR)

Cultural Perspectives is looking for an experienced, highly motivated, and dedicated Account Director to join our Sydney team in a full-time position.

‍About the position

The Account Director role is a full-time position based at our Redfern office in Sydney, reporting to the Director of Communications. The Account Director will lead a small team with a public relations focus to deliver communications, engagement, and marketing projects concurrently.

The Account Director position involves:

  • ‍Working in a client focused team, committed to best practice when working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

    • Including engaging and consulting with various stakeholder and community members around issues relating to diversity for a range of clients in the government, private and community sector

  • Leading and developing a small team with public relations skillsets.

  • Communicating and negotiating sensitively within cross-cultural environments.

  • Designing and delivering effective and innovative public relations campaigns and approaches and related communication products.

  • ‍Establishing and maintaining productive, professional relationships with key personnel in assigned client accounts.

  • Proactively assessing, clarifying, and validating client needs on an ongoing basis.

  • Identifying and achieving earned media and social media coverage to increase the profile of the client organisation, project or campaign, to reach specified target audiences, and meet client needs (including talent sourcing, media pitching, media outreach, events, following up for coverage etc).

  • ‍Writing (copywriting) and managing the production of information materials such as:

    • Media releases, audio/video news releases, backgrounders, Q&As, bios, factsheets, social media post copy, media kits, stakeholder kits, and EDMs.

  • Engaging and consulting with various stakeholders in the multicultural sector and multicultural community members around issues (health, superannuation, FMCG, disability, property, luxury goods, domestic and family violence) for a range of clients in the government, private and community sectors (including distribution of information materials, following up for feedback and usage)

  • Drafting key organisation messages, content and strategies, ensuring consistency with brand, values, and factual accuracy.

  • Leading multiple campaigns and projects from kick-off to delivery.

  • Growing your dedicated accounts through identification of mutually beneficial opportunities

  • Independent research, information synthesis and analysis to support the development of campaigns on specific topics, and communication of that information via information products and messages

  • Undertaking tender, proposal and quotation responses.

  • Conducting analysis of campaign and strategic outputs and preparing detailed written reports and verbal presentations.

The ideal person will demonstrate strong knowledge of the following.

  • 5+ years of experience in communications, public relations, media relations, public affairs or community advocacy related work or agency account leadership.

  • ‍ An understanding of communications with and engagement of linguistically and culturally diverse communities (communicating in cross-cultural environments).

  • ‍Excellent client-facing communication skills, with confidence presenting strategy to senior stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver public relations strategies that achieve client objectives and drive business growth.

  • Strong content writing, editing and verbal skills.

  • Exceptional project management skills including ability to work in a hands-on team, on multiple projects and tasks concurrently, manage budgets, timelines and deadlines efficiently.

  • Advanced reporting, analytics, and campaign optimisation expertise

  • ‍Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – demonstrated ability to work with all levels of internal management and staff with a positive mindset and adaptable to changes.

  • Proven ability to lead teams, mentor talent, and drive performance outcomes.

  • Understanding and experience with media monitoring (e.g. Meltwater/Prowly/iSentia or similar) and EDM platforms (e.g. Mailchimp or similar)

  • Strong competency in all Microsoft Office suite.

Desirable:

  • Direct experience working in a diversity-related field will be highly regarded.

  • Experience with using and editing website platforms such as Squarespace/WordPress

  • Experience with design tools and programs such as Canva, Adobe suite

Qualifications:

Tertiary qualification in a related discipline (public relations, communications, or similar).
