Professional Summary

Pino Migliorino founded Cultural Perspectives, a leading consultancy providing strategic marketing and research services to government, not-for-profit and private sector organisations, in 1994.

With over 40 years’ experience Pino is a recognised expert in communications, community engagement and consultation, research and the broader area of multicultural policy and programs and implementation. Pino has been involved in over 250 public information and education campaigns and a similar number of strategic advice provision contracts relating to cross cultural communication and service delivery.

Pino’s skills in community and stakeholder engagement, strategic communications, crisis management, facilitation, and policy (including framework development) are widely recognised in the sector.

In the area of community engagement, Pino most recently led the development and implementation of Positive Partnerships’ Multicultural Engagement Strategy. The 3-year strategy was created to better support the needs of school aged children on the autism spectrum from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds to help overcome particular barriers to positive experiences for them in school environments. As the project lead Pino developed the strategy through a co-design approach with all relevant stakeholders and worked with Positive Partnerships to deliver meaningful engagement with community members, parents, principals and wider school communities. Pino has also led the development of the Fair Work Ombudsman’s Chinese Engagement Strategy via in-depth community consultations, strategy development and stakeholder engagement for the Metro Tunnel Multicultural Engagement Strategy, the Recognise CALD community Awareness Strategy and Australian Electoral Commission Electoral Education Initiatives.

Pino complements his professional experience with over four decades of involvement as a volunteer in civil society organisations concerned with settlement, welfare, the arts, and aged care. Pino has developed meaningful links with multicultural communities and their representative structures around Australia over the past 36 years. He recently spent four years as the Chair of the Federation of Ethnic and Communities Councils Australia (FECCA).

He has recently concluded multi-year terms on the boards of the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) and Australia’s National Research Organisation for Women’s Safety (ANROWS) and Information and Cultural Exchange (ICE). In June 2017 Pino was made a Member of the Order of Australia for his work with the Italian community and refugees.

Other former positions include Director at Porter Novelli, Principal Policy Officer at the Community Relations Commission, NSW Regional Coordinator at the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet and Senior Conciliator at the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission.
