Professional Summary
Sarah is a multicultural communications strategy expert who has led the Communications division of Cultural Perspectives for the past 5 years, having worked across both communications and engagement since joining the company in 2012. Under Sarah’s management the communications team have gone from strength to strength delivering award winning successful public relations, communication and engagement and digital marketing campaigns.
Sarah’s expertise includes campaign strategy development, advice and expertise in multicultural communications, project management, translations management, media and stakeholder relations, production, community relations, data analysis and event management. During her time at CP Sarah has worked on over 100 communication campaigns and managed up to 300 translations projects of varying sizes.
Australian Electoral Commission, 2016, 2019, 2022 Federal Elections and 2023 Referendum
Having worked as part of the delivery team for the multicultural components of federal elections since starting at CP, Sarah has led the strategy development and campaign implementation of the 2016, 2019, 2022 federal elections (and development stages of the 2025 federal election prior to parental leave) as well as the 2023 referendum.
Federal election campaigns are unique to government communication, they require deep knowledge of electoral process, be politically neutral, encourage participation and explain the process, be delivered in a cluttered advertising environment all within the unique situation of very short live campaign period, the dates of which are unknown.
Electoral campaigns are extremely challenging to deliver, particularly for CALD communication where 500-800 pieces of advertising material is produced in 30-34 languages across print, TV, radio, and digital platforms and PR activities re delivered nationally within 4 weeks.. Good communications skills, passion, deep knowledge of the intricacies of electoral campaigns and forward thinking are essential skillsets to the success of each campaign delivery.
Other recent examples of Sarah’s skills and expertise include:
Project lead for the Attorney General’s Department’s One Talk at a Time campaign seeking to prevent child sexual abuse. This campaign was highly inclusive, research driven and successfully implemented advertising, community engagement activities, resources including a children’s storybook that has been distributed in the thousands to Australian communities and drove strong media and stakeholder engagement.
Strategic partner to ACON and the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing to extend the ‘Own It’ cervical screening campaign into diverse audiences, as the first national cervical screening campaign in more than 20 years. Sarah’s experience in in-language production, campaign adaptation and campaign strategy supported ACON to recruit real people as talent for this sensitive campaign, provided media advice and recommendations to reach the most vulnerable audiences about this sensitive issue, and ensured high quality asset development and delivery that would resonate with a broad audience.
Project lead for the 2024 CALD Coercive Control campaign for the NSW Department of Communities and Justice. Through CP’s engagement and production capacities, Sarah led the team to create NSW’s first bespoke campaign to educate communities about coercive control and changes in the state’s laws. Using the visual metaphor of a ‘web’ this campaign was tailored to each community by identifying traits of coercive control that exist in each community (uncovered through community consultation). The campaign was tested and refined prior to launch and due to its success has been extended into additional languages by the Department.
Working at CP has allowed Sarah to understand the value of multicultural communications at its core, enabling all people no matter their situation to thrive in the world around them. She believes that positive and respectful relationships are the key to success whether it is interacting with colleagues, clients, or diverse communities.
