Professional summary
Rea is an established communications and engagement leader with over a decade of experience working in social policy, community development and communications. Rea joined Cultural Perspectives Group in 2018, and not only has she consistently played a vital role within her own team firstly as Project Officer and subsequently as Engagement Lead, she has become an Executive company representative; utilising her skills to work across the company and has adapted to different areas of work. Now performing the role of Director – Engagement, Rea leads high-level projects for local, state, and federal government departments, corporate clients, universities, and the not-for-profit sector.
Since taking on the role of Director – Engagement at Cultural Perspectives Group, Rea has maintained a consistent high quality and diligence in all areas of her work, while also bringing culturally informed leadership qualities to the role. Focused on providing strategic guidance and governance to her team, she dedicates her time to ensure operational efficiency, compliance and highest possible quality output.
Rea is committed to making change and will never shy away from addressing serious issues facing all intersections of community. Rea has strong demonstrated experience leading co-designed community initiatives with the application of the IAP2 Framework, design and delivery of national communication and engagement strategies in important policy areas such as health and wellbeing, disability, to her personal passion in primary prevention of violence against women, children, older people and all diverse populations.
Rea has coordinated the development and delivery of a number of significant government campaigns within the GCCP Village model including:
Campaign lead for the Department of Social Services’ Stop it at the Start phases 5 and 6 and Consent Can’t Wait campaigns. For both campaigns Rea managed multi-year campaigns concurrently on sensitive subject matter that successfully delivered advertising and bespoke public relations aspects (of CALD media, stakeholder and community engagement, as well as bespoke resource production).
Campaign lead for the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing’s Youth Vaping (Join the Thousands), COVID-19 vaccine uptake, Cosmetic Surgery and Hearing Health campaigns. Applying expertise on multiple health-based communication and engagement considerations for both above and below the line strategies.
Campaign lead for the Attorney General Department’s Ending Abuse of Older People and Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts’ national Road Safety campaigns.
Additionally providing strategic support and guidance to the team on critical campaigns such as the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing’s STI, Medicare Benefits, Medicare Urgent Care Clinic, PBS, Japanese Encephalitis Virus and MyMedicare campaigns, the National Office for Child Safety’s One Talk at a Time campaign and the Department of Home Affairs’ Smartraveller campaign.
She is a prominent and well known community leader and subject matter expert on multicultural engagement and affairs as she represents the leading body on multiculturalism in Australia, the Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Council’s CALD Women’s Advisory group. Additionally Rea also is on the Board of the University of Sydney’s Settlement and a member of Full Stop Australia – national not for profit for provision of sexual violence support services.
Rea brings much from her own life experience to all of her roles, being keenly aware of many of the issues that are experienced by diverse intersections of all people and applies that in her role as a leader in all aspects of her career.
