Professional Summary
Born in Zimbabwe, Scott grew up on a maize and wheat farm before moving to Australia in 2004 and settling temporarily in Darwin. Since then, Scott has lived in Perth and Brisbane before finally settling in Sydney. This has given him personal cross-cultural experiences from multiple Australian states and territories that inform his empathetic and inclusive design approach.
Coming from a background in professional services, not-for-profit and government sectors, Scott brings visual communication expertise in the built environment, financial, arts and culture industries and more. Starting with Cultural Perspectives in 2022, Scott embedded design capabilities in-house and provided client-focused creative solutions to national, multilingual campaigns throughout their lifecycle.
With a head for creative strategy and art direction, Scott has additional talents in brand stewardship and user experience. He offers strategic design solutions that are culturally nuanced and outcomes-driven, with additional abilities in accessibility, UX/UI, illustration, SEO and website metrics.
Some highlights for Scott include:
Designing materials for 58 campaigns and their extensions, 34 of which belong to the Health and Well-being and Security villages, during his three-year tenure at Cultural Perspectives.
Leading the delivery of a key creative project, My superhero voice, an illustrated children’s storybook central to the National Office for Child Safety’s (NOCS) highly sensitive One Talk at a Time campaign. Scott sourced suppliers, managed the creative process and designed the book. Initially published in 11 languages with 1,050 books printed, My superhero voice launched at a press event attended by the Attorney General. The first success saw additional video and audio resources produced on top of the agreed scope of work. The second success saw seven more languages translated, 13,500 books printed, packing and distribution to 1,000 preschools and early learning centres across Australia and custom orders to 60 multicultural organisations.
Developing the concept for the NSW Department of Communities and Justice’s CALD-specific Coercive Control campaign. Scott created and presented bespoke illustrations and designs to the Department and actioned their feedback. The campaign was then translated into four languages and community-tested to ensure it resonated with multicultural audiences. The project’s success can be seen in the endorsement by Jess Hill, a prize-winning investigative journalist focused on social issues and gendered violence, the mainstream media coverage it garnered through SBS and the expansion into five new languages.
Designing and remediating documents to meet WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards, including reports exceeding 130 pages with complex compliance challenges. Scott regularly provides ongoing accessibility advice and support throughout project development.
Scott combines creative strategy with cultural insight to deliver design solutions that support meaningful outcomes. He works across the full campaign lifecycle, aligning visual communication with client objectives to engage diverse audiences and strengthen project impact.
