CP moments that lifted us in the past year

The past year has been a rollercoaster of great energy for the CGP Group. As we celebrate the end of 2022, the Cultural Perspectives (CP) Communications team looks back on the moments that lifted us in the past year.

First and foremost, has been the wonderful relationships we have developed with so many clients this year including at the Australian Electoral Commission, Department of Health, Department of Home Affairs, Department of Social Services, Department of Education and Training Victoria, Attorney General’s Department, Cancer Council Australia and NSW, Full Stop Australia, Investment NSW, Fullstop Australia and so many more! We value these relationships so highly and feel incredibly lucky to work with such hard-working, like-minded, and intelligent people.

With conferences and events back in (almost) full swing we took full advantage of any opportunity to travel and get out from behind our desks to connect with people in person again. May-June were busy months with the CP team sponsoring the National Ethnic and Multicultural Broadcasters Council’s annual conference, back for the first time in two years and FECCA 2022 in Melbourne. Both events were wonderful opportunities to share new experiences and innovations in knowledge and practice.

In November CP attended the illustrious STARTTS Refugee Ball at Cockle Bay. This was the last event the team attended this year and it was so great to be able to enjoy catching up with our community partners and catch up in person. The STARTTS Refugee Ball has established itself over the past thirteen years as one of the most culturally diverse gala events in the wonderful city of Sydney, and a key event in the social calendar of the community services sector. The event was a full house, with emotive guest speakers, energetic entertainment, and an overall resounding success.

The ball helps raise funds to support important programs that assist people from refugee backgrounds recover from their experience and rebuild their lives. This year, funds raised at the event went towards supporting children and young people with opportunities for positive youth development through STARTTS Camp in partnership with Outward Bound Australia. STARTTS has found that the youth attending camp allows young people to develop supportive relationships with campers, staff, and provides good role model to encourage them to participate and engage in safe activities, at the same time developing decision making skills. Camps also build trust and helps young people reflect upon their experiences. CP was proud to attend and sponsor this wonderful event

We then wrapped up this exciting year with our beloved Senior Account Manager, Kat Gao being promoted to Account Director at CP. Kat is a fantastic asset to the team and we all look forward to working with her in this capacity when she returns in August 2023. To further top things off she gave birth to the beautiful baby Alexis, expanding her family to four. Alexis finally arrived on the 9th December at 9:27 pm, being graced with the looks of her stunning mother. Congratulations Kat.

Finally, as there wasn’t enough excitement to the year, the CPG group kicked off their 2022 festivities with a very creative clay making session, followed by a wonderful dinner at the Bloodwood, located in Newtown. The last thing left is a huge bake-off challenge, taking place on the last week of the working year, which can get very competitive – stay tuned.

If this is how 2022 has unfolded, then look out 2023.
